Carers Week 2021
They need to be recognised for the difficulties they are experiencing, respected for all they are doing, and provided with information, support and understanding.
So during Carers Week, we’re coming together to help Make Caring Visible.
There are 6.5 million people in the UK who are carers. They are looking after a family member or friend who has a disability, mental or physical illness or who needs extra help as they grow older.
Caring’s impact on all aspects of life from relationships and health to finances and work should not be underestimated, and carers are facing even more difficult circumstances this year. Whilst many feel that caring is one of the most important things they do, its challenges should not be underestimated. Caring without the right information and support can be tough.
It is vitally important that we recognise the contribution carers make to their families and local communities, workplaces and society, and that they get the support they need.
Why not support us?
Every donation helps; whether it’s a one-off contribution like a legacy donation or a monthly direct debit. Your donations can help us create new services and provide better support to our carers. From complementary therapies to counselling and training for carers, your help can go a long way. Additionally, we have a number of ways you can fundraise by simply thinking of us when you go about your day-to-day lives!
Carer’s Week Round Up
Amazing to meet so many of you and how excited you were to see each other too. We were gifted with hot sunny days for the Carers Picnic, Meet and Greet, Thai Cook Out and the Aloha Barbecue. There was some wonderful feedback all positive and I do not remember one grumpy face!
Food and therapies are definitely amongst your favourite things to do. Although I’m not quite sure if some of you should have had a health check so soon after consuming cakes! Lots of smiley faces and lots of you returned to more than one event and even managed the Photography session and Reptile Encounter on Zoom.
You exhaust us, we really look forward to doing it again though!
